Neil Xu on why AI will become the new language of business

In a recent interview with Treasury Today, PingPong Head of Treasury Neil Xu sets out how AI is set to become the new language of business, with cross-border payments infrastructure leading the shift.
Neil explains how PingPong built an in-house AI risk system to cope with rising transaction volumes and the fraud attempts and compliance demands that came with them. The platform uses two agents, one to screen for fraud and one to prepare information requests for bank partners. It has halved RFI wait times without increasing headcount, and is now being rolled out to Canada, Southeast Asia and Brazil to protect more merchants across more payment corridors.
Looking ahead, Neil expects agentic AI to take on governed decision-making, including routing payments along the fastest and most cost-effective paths for merchants. He also sees real-time payment rails and anonymised data sharing between banks and payment providers strengthening liquidity management, FX risk management and fraud defence. Even so, he believes the experienced judgement of treasury professionals will become more valuable as automation scales.
